  • November 4th Presentation of the print of HMS Tiptoe proceeding to Sea, to the Mayor and Council of Blyth. In appreciation of all the efforts in respect to the Memorial Garden in Blyth. Following information, kindly provided by Bob Harrison NE Branch.

    From Newcastle Airport to Blyth by Metro and Bus

                Metro from Airport to Haymarket (11 stops 21 minutes) £2.40

                Bus Station is beside the Metro exit

                Bus 308 Stand L to Blyth Bus Station (63 minutes) approx. £6.20

                Bus 309 Stand M to Blyth Bus Station (64 minutes) approx. £6.20

                Bus X8 Stand U to Blyth Bus Station (80 minutes) approx. £6.20

                Bus X9 Stand S to Blyth Bus Station (55 minutes) approx. £6.20

                Bus X10 Stand T to Blyth Bus Station (55 minutes} approx. £6.20

                England Senior Bus Pass can be used on the above BUSES

    From Newcastle Airport to Blyth by Taxi

                Use Blueline Taxis 0191 2626666 they are the cheapest

                After exiting into the Departure/arrivals hall phone Blueline

                Then proceed to the Pickup/drop off point. Do not go to the main taxi rank

                Blueline will send a text with your car details. Usually takes about 5 – 10 minutes for car to arrive.

                Estimated cost for the car £32.00, distance 17 miles, time 30 minutes

     

    The Odd Fellows is about 0.2 miles, 5 minutes walk from Blyth bus station.

     

    For the 4th of November things are not complete yet. One thing I can say is that at 0800 on the 4th we will be having Breakfast in the Astley Arms of Blyth Submarine fame during WW2. The pub is 5 minutes away from the bus station on the number 308 or 309.

     

    The Breakfast is full English as much as you can eat at £4.95, Tea/Coffee as much as you can drink £1.89. I am in negotiations with the Chef for a special supplement of Sh*t on a Raft at an extra charge.

     

    There will be presentation of the Print of HMS Tiptoe proceeding to sea at the Memorial Service held in the Gardens at Blyth on Sunday 4th November 2018 at 10 am onwards. This will be to the Mayor and Council of Blyth. This being the week before Remembrance Sunday in the UK.
